Commercial painting FAQs

Commercial Painting Questions, Answered

Yes. Carrying solid insurance is the minimum any responsible contractor should offer, and Indiana Painting carries coverage that satisfies some of the most demanding commercial clients in our market. You can view our certificate on our Credentials page, or email office@indianapainting.com and we will send a copy.

Yes. Safety starts with a clear-headed crew. Every employee passes a drug screen before they ever step onto your property, and every technician is screened again each year. You should never have to worry about who is working around your staff, your customers or your equipment.

Yes. Every technician completes a thorough background check before joining our team. It is a core part of our hiring process and protects your property, your employees and your assets while we are on site.

Commercial painting is an investment, and so is putting it off. Peeling, faded or stained walls tell customers and job candidates that a business might cut corners elsewhere. Professional preparation and commercial-grade paint last longer between repaints, protect your building, support property value and rents, and reinforce your brand every time someone walks through the door. We will help you match products and scope to your budget.

You’re not alone. Central Indiana’s freeze-thaw winters, humid summers and strong UV are hard on coatings. Common problems include peeling from moisture, fading and chalking from sun exposure, scuffing from daily traffic, blistering from trapped moisture and cracking from thermal movement.

We start with a diagnostic assessment to find the root cause, looking at prior surface prep, coating compatibility, moisture and environmental factors, then build a remedial plan that may include repairs, priming or full surface preparation. On especially challenging projects we work with certified third-party inspectors for detailed testing.

It’s a valid concern, and today’s products make it manageable. For odor-sensitive spaces we prefer zero-VOC lines such as PPG Pure Performance and Benjamin Moore Natura. When even a faint smell is a problem, we can run activated-carbon air scrubbers through the work area, use strategic ventilation and schedule work around your hours. Your project consultant will walk through the options with you during the quote.

Commercial projects are usually larger, use specialized equipment and coatings made for high-traffic environments, and have to be coordinated with business operations, tight timelines, building codes and safety requirements.

  • Interior painting: offices, retail, healthcare and educational facilities
  • Exterior painting: facades, trim, architectural details and protective coatings
  • Industrial coatings: warehouses, manufacturing facilities and equipment
  • Specialty finishes: epoxy floors, anti-slip coatings and decorative treatments
  • Surface preparation: power washing, priming and repair work
  • Color consultation: schemes that support your brand

It depends on square footage, how much preparation is needed, weather for exterior work, your operating requirements and the number of coats. Small offices often take 2–3 days, while large commercial complexes can take several weeks. We provide a detailed timeline during your consultation.

  • Licensing and insurance: liability and workers’ compensation coverage
  • Commercial experience: proven work on projects like yours
  • Quality materials: commercial-grade paints suited to your environment
  • References and portfolio: recent projects and client testimonials (see our featured projects)
  • Written quotes: a clear proposal covering scope, materials, timeline and cost
